Antique Cops Step Up Digital Vigilance to Counter Fake News

Antique: In a strong push to protect communities from the harmful effects of disinformation, the Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) has pledged its full support to the national campaign against fake news through the newly launched 'War for Truth' under the Joint Anti-Fake News Action Committee (JAFNAC). APPO Director Col. Lea Rose Pe±a said the local police is intensifying efforts to monitor and report false content circulating online, especially on social media, in line with the Philippine National Police's broader mission to safeguard truth and transparency.

According to Philippines News Agency, PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil warned that fake news not only erodes public trust but also threatens economic stability. Meanwhile, Presidential Communications Office Secretary Jay Ruiz, who also attended the launch, underscored the importance of empowering agencies and communities to take swift action. He urged government units to identify and remove false posts within six hours to prevent further harm.
