San Jose de Buenavista: The 39 aspirants for various local posts in this province are expected to join the covenant signing set on March 14 to commit to a fair and peaceful 2025 elections. Commission on Elections (Comelec) acting Assistant Regional Director and concurrent Antique Provincial Election Supervisor Wil Arce±o said the covenant signing is for candidates running for representative, governor, vice governor, and provincial board members at the Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) in San Jose de Buenavista. 'Through the covenant signing, the local aspirants will be making their commitment for a fair and peaceful election,' he said in an interview.

According to Philippines News Agency, following the morning activity is the launch of Kontra Bigay in the afternoon, where the candidates will be reminded to refrain from vote buying. 'Candidates will also be reminded against abuse of government resources, money, and personnel on their favor this coming election,' he said.

Meanwhile, he reminded candidates that any dispense of social services, such as distribution of aid to individuals in crisis situations and family food packs, should have a request for exemption from Comelec once the local campaign starts on March 28. 'Only ongoing infrastructure projects or those with notice to proceed that have Comelec exemption will also be allowed to continue,' he said. Arce±o said that, as of this time, Comelec has not given an exemption to requesting provincial/local government units in Antique.
