Antique Provincial Board to Relinquish Duties June 23

Antique: Members of the Antique provincial board will relinquish their duties and accomplishments to their successors by June 23, a week before the official start of the new administration. Vice Governor Edgar Denosta, who failed in his gubernatorial attempt during the May 12 midterm elections, said they will have a ceremonial turnover of duties and accomplishments, including approved ordinances and resolutions, to Vice Governor-elect Genevive Reyes and the new set of board members.

According to Philippines News Agency, Denosta emphasized the importance of a smooth transition, stating, "Through this ceremonial turnover, we are looking forward to a smooth transition of good governance and transparency to the vice governor-elect and board members." He also assured the newly elected officials that they would still be available to assist them should they have queries or need advice.

Denosta served the province as vice governor for three terms, from 2019 to 2025. During his tenure, he encouraged the new set of board members to prioritize ordinances focused on providing livelihood for the people and retaining job orders or contractual employees who possess the necessary skills.

The new administration's board members include newly elected Gaseva Recopuerto; reelected Dante Beriong, Karmila Rose Dimamay, Alfie Jay Niquia, Emmanuel Palacio, and Noel Alamis; and returning Eugene Alojipan, Bernie Tubianosa, Fernando Corvera, and Vincent Piccio III.

The Antique provincial board faced challenges earlier this year as it failed to hold its regular sessions from March 7 to May 26 due to a lack of quorum. This was a result of the suspension of eight of its members following complaints of grave misconduct and abuse of authority.
