Sulu: The 1102nd Infantry 'Ganarul' Brigade (1102Bde), based in Sulu province, has significantly enhanced its operational capabilities in coastal areas with the activation of two new motorboats. Brig. Gen. Alaric Avelino delos Santos, commander of the 1102Bde, stated that the operational test and evaluation of the two motorboats on Monday were successful.
According to Philippines News Agency, one of the motorboats is a newly constructed gray vessel, while the other is a white, second-hand acquisition. The newly built motorboat was christened as Ganarul Uno, and the acquired one was named Ganarul Dos. Delos Santos emphasized that this milestone strengthens the 1102nd Brigade's ability to respond to security challenges across Sulu's complex archipelagic domain.
The 1102Bde oversees seven municipalities within Sulu: five on the mainland and two on outlying islands. The province consists of 19 municipalities, with the brigade's area of responsibility including Panamao, Kalingalan Caluang, Panglima Estino, Luuk, Pata, Omar, and Banguingui.
During the operational test, the motorboats traveled from the port of Luuk to Sani-Sani Beach on Capual Island in Omar. They then proceeded to the Tandang Mairan Rock Formation, also on Capual Island, allowing for a practical assessment of the boats' performance under varying coastal conditions.
Delos Santos noted that the operational test not only validated the readiness and seaworthiness of the motorboats but also fostered stronger camaraderie and teamwork among the brigade personnel.
