Army Chief Vows More Modernization for Artillery, Missile Unit

Manila: Army chief Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete has committed to bolstering the modernization efforts of the Army Artillery Regiment (AAR) to enhance its capability in safeguarding the nation against various threats. "We will continue to invest in modernization, professional development, operational readiness, and innovation to ensure that the Philippine Artillery remains highly capable, adaptive, and always mission-ready," Nafarrete stated.

According to Philippines News Agency, Lt. Gen. Nafarrete emphasized the importance of sustained modernization and operational readiness in response to the rapidly changing security landscape. He highlighted the necessity for the artillery forces to be agile, competent, and capable of executing operations with precision and decisiveness. The PA chief also urged the AAR to focus on deepening professional development and strengthening their operational readiness.

Recent advancements in the AAR's modernization efforts include the provisional activation of the 1st Ground-Launched Missile Battalion, which aims to enhance the Philippine Army's deterrent capabilities and protect national sovereignty. Additionally, the Light Deployable Battery Communication System has been fortified to further improve operational efficiency.

Lt. Gen. Nafarrete reassured that the challenges ahead would be met collectively, maintaining a relentless pursuit of excellence. The remarks coincided with the AAR's 128th founding anniversary on June 27, celebrated at Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija. The event was held in conjunction with the Artillery Foundation of the Philippines Inc., which paid tribute to the legacy of the AAR's cannoneers, renowned as the "King of Battle."
