Pasay city: Measures are now being undertaken to improve the delivery of service among local government units, Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Secretary Ernesto Perez said. The municipal government of Bacnotan, La Union is the sole local government awarded Thursday night in a hotel in Pasay City during ARTA's Report Card Survey (RCS) Awards 2.0, which cites local governments, government-owned and controlled corporations, and educational institutions based on the quality of their processes, payment system, client satisfaction, and scientific survey.
According to Philippines News Agency, Perez noted that while many LGUs were included in this year's awards assessment, only one qualified, which, he said, is 'an indication that we really have to work harder for the LGUs.' He emphasized the importance of efficient service delivery at the local government level, highlighting that 'this is where permitting process starts.' He further pointed out that investors first assess the readiness of LGUs for business opportunities.
Perez revealed plans to communicate with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to propose suggestions based on the ARTA survey findings, aiming to assist LGUs in enhancing their service delivery. He acknowledged the proactive stance of DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla, describing him as open to reforms and quick in implementing changes.
In addition to Bacnotan, other winners in this year's RCS Awards include the Department of Science and Technology- Industrial Technology Development Institute, Commission on Population and Development- Region 10 (Northern Mindanao); Governance Commission for GOCCs; National Historical Commission of the Philippines - Museo ni Marcelo H. Del Pilar; Dangerous Drugs Board, Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Iloilo and General Santos branch offices; Philippine Fisheries Development Authority - Zamboanga Fish Pork Complex, South Leyte State University - Main Campus; Bulacan State University- Main Campus, Benguet State University - La Trinidad Campus, and Santa Maria Water District, Bulacan.
