Manila: The humanitarian assistance provided to families affected by Tropical Storm Ramil in Western Visayas has reached over PHP28.02 million, based on the latest report released by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Friday. Of the total cost, PHP26.707 million came from DSWD Field Office 6 (Western Visayas), while the rest were from local government units and non-governmental organizations.

According to Philippines News Agency, DSWD data showed that the weather disturbance has affected 729 families or 2,176 persons in Antique, while Aklan reported 6,888 families, equivalent to 24,722 individuals. Capiz, which experienced severe flooding, had 49,751 affected families or 182,592 individuals; while Iloilo recorded 7,056 families or 21,731 individuals.

The DSWD also reported that 36 houses were completely destroyed while 1,215 others were damaged. Only 10 families or 41 individuals were in two open evacuation centers as of posting time, while six families or 30 individuals were with relatives or friends.

DSWD still has PHP89.86 million worth of available resources, consisting of PHP87.07 million worth of food and non-food items and PHP2.79 million in standby funds.
