Nakhon ratchasima: The ASEAN Para Sports Federation (APSF) and the Thailand ASEAN Para Games Organizing Committee (THASOC) have pledged to deliver the best-ever ASEAN Para Games during a series of coordination meetings at the Kantary Hotel in Nakhon Ratchasima.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Kantary Hotel has been designated the official headquarters for the 13th ASEAN Para Games, scheduled to take place from January 20 to 26, 2026, across multiple venues in Nakhon Ratchasima and Bangkok. Despite recent flooding in several regions of Thailand, THASOC assured stakeholders that Nakhon Ratchasima, also known as Korat, remains fully operational and unaffected.
APSF President Maj. Gen. Osoth Bhavilai expressed satisfaction with the progress made, stating, "We are encouraged by the commitment demonstrated by THASOC and remain confident that preparations in Nakhon Ratchasima are fully on track." He added that while the national flood situation is concerning, it has not disrupted the Games' operations in Korat. APSF will continue collaborating with THASOC to address outstanding issues and ensure a safe, well-organized, and world-class ASEAN Para Games.
The coordination meetings were led by Bhavilai and included a seven-member APSF delegation, featuring Secretary General Maj. Gen. Dr. Wandee Tosuwan and key APSF Secretariat members. The THASOC delegation included senior officials such as Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) Deputy Governor for Elite Sports and Sports Science Preecha Laloon, Paralympic Committee of Thailand Vice President Dr. Kittipong Photimu, and others from various operational committees.
APSF and THASOC reviewed progress in all major functional areas, including sports and technical operations, classification, venues, facilities, ceremonies, IT and results systems, accommodation, transportation, security, medical services, and media operations. A memorandum of understanding was signed between APSF and SAT, reaffirming Thailand's role as host nation and formalizing operational cooperation across all functional areas.
The Games will feature more than 2,500 athletes and officials from Southeast Asia, competing in 19 sports, including athletics, swimming, wheelchair basketball, archery, badminton, and many others in Bangkok.
