Bacolod City Gears Up for Batang Pinoy 2026 Hosting on Dec. 12-18

Bacolod city: This highly urbanized city is starting preparations for the hosting of the Batang Pinoy 2026, with final dates set on Dec. 12 to 18. In a statement on Wednesday, Mayor Greg Gasataya acknowledged the city government's strong collaboration with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) in bringing the national sports event for athletes 17 years and below here.

According to Philippines News Agency, this milestone reflects the strengthened partnership between Bacolod City and the PSC. Mayor Gasataya expressed gratitude to Chairman Patrick Gregorio for his trust in Bacolod's vision and commitment to grassroots sports development. He emphasized that the Batang Pinoy 2026 provides a platform for the city to support homegrown talent and believes Bacolod City is capable of producing future Filipino Olympians.

Gasataya also highlighted the positive impact of hosting the event on the city's sports tourism, aiming to position Bacolod as a leading sports development center in the region. The influx of athletes, coaches, and families is expected to boost local business activities significantly.

This year marks the fourth time Bacolod will host the Batang Pinoy, following the inaugural games in 1999, as well as in 2001 and 2013. The previous Batang Pinoy in 2025, hosted by General Santos City, saw participation from 19,700 athletes across 191 local government units competing in 27 sports events.
