Bacolod city: This highly urbanized city will host more than 12,000 delegates from 17 regions during the 2026 National Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Games on May 9 to 16. On Monday, Mayor Greg Gasataya discussed the final preparations for the sports, cultural, and academic competitions with National PRISAA executive director Jake Mercado and PRISAA-Negros Island Region coordinator Mark Molina.
According to Philippines News Agency, Molina acknowledged the support they have been receiving from the city government. "From financial assistance to logistical arrangements, including playing venues, billeting areas, transportation and security augmentation for the national event," he said. The grand opening of this year's National PRISAA Games will be held on May 9, starting 5 p.m., at Panaad Park and Stadium. It will be streamed live on the official Facebook page of the National PRISAA Games 2026.
Earlier, Molina signed a memorandum of agreement with Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, formalizing the province's support for the multi-sport competition. The staging of the National PRISAA Games is "seen to boost local tourism, promote sports development and showcase the province's capability in organizing national-level events," the provincial government said.
