Bacolod: A drug runner was arrested in a sting operation that yielded PHP14.11 million in shabu at Purok Kamunsil, Barangay 3 here Sunday night, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) said in a report on Monday.
According to Philippines News Agency, alias 'Renz', 25, a resident of Purok Bolinao, Barangay 1, sold PHP6,000 worth of shabu during a meet-up with a poseur-buyer from the City Drug Enforcement Unit. After he was caught, operatives seized from his possession 21 knot-tied transparent plastic bags containing 2,075 grams priced at PHP6,800 per gram.
The police report stated that 'Renz' has been actively engaged in illegal drug activities in Barangays 1, 4, 35, and other adjacent barangays in Bacolod City. It mentioned that 'Renz' became a drug runner earlier this year after his wife gave birth to their third child. His source contacts him through mobile phone and instructs him to deliver the illegal drug supply to his 'downline' in various locations around the city.
The suspect is under the custody of Police Station 2 and will be charged for violation of Article 2, Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The BCPO emphasized its commitment to intensifying anti-illegal drug operations and urged the public to support law enforcement by reporting illegal drug activities in their communities.
The successful Sunday night operation followed BCPO drug enforcement teams' arrests of three individuals in two buy-busts that led to the recovery of PHP11.9 million in shabu last week. On July 3, alias 'Ernesto,' 44, yielded six knot-tied plastic bags of shabu weighing 1,200 grams with an estimated value of PHP8.16 million near Bredco Port at the Reclamation Area in Barangay 12. Construction workers alias 'Joaquin' and 'Mark' were found in possession of 550 grams of shabu worth PHP3.74 million during the operation inside a motel room in Barangay Singcang-Airport on July 2.
