BANK ISLAM TREASURE HUNT CAN BOOST TIES BETWEEN MEDIA PRACTITIONERS OF VARIOUS RACES

The ‘Bank Islam Media Community Drive 2023’ treasure hunt from Kuala Lumpur to Penang can strengthen relations between media practitioners of various races.

Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad Group chief executive officer Mohd Muazzam Mohamed said the programme, held in conjunction with the bank's 40th anniversary, received an encouraging response from media practitioners, with 40 teams comprising more than 120 participants from 22 media agencies taking part.

“This programme is also a way to strengthen relations between the media and Bank Islam agencies, while it is also a token of our appreciation to the media for its unwavering support for Bank Islam throughout its 40 years of establishment.

“I also hope that the programme organised on Malaysia Day can further strengthen the relationship between media practitioners,” he said at Bank Islam Sungai Buloh here this morning.

Mohd Muazzam said the programme was the result of a collaboration with its strategic partner, the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Employees Club.

He said among the interesting activities for the convoy of cars was vegetable cultivation using hydroponics (growing plants in a nutrient solution instead of soil) at My Gopeng HyGrowFarmVille (Joejalil Galeria) in RTC Gopeng, Perak, in addition to looking for clues along the way.

Mohd Muazzam said Bank Islam is also doing something different this year by carrying out its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme at the Dahikmah Orphans/Poor Welfare Organisation in Gopeng by donating RM30,000 to purchase a used van.

Bernama News Service Deputy Editor-in-Chief Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin concurred, saying she was also proud that the treasure hunt received a favourable response from media practitioners.

“We (Bernama) also feel proud because it is organised during the Malaysia Day celebration where we know that our media colleagues are usually strapped for time but today were benevolent to spend their time charitably,” she said.

She also expressed her happiness because the Bernama Employees Club could be part of the programme that celebrates the establishment of Bank Islam 40 years ago.

The treasure hunt offers prizes up to 10th placing, with the winner receiving RM5,000 in cash, followed by second (RM4,000) and third (RM3,000).
