BARMM Ministry Successfully Mediates Family Feud Resolution in Lanao del Sur

Malabang: The Ministry of Public Order and Safety in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MPOS-BARMM) has successfully facilitated the peaceful resolution of a 'rido' (family feud) in Malabang, Lanao del Sur, an official stated on Friday. The initiative saw collaboration between the Malabang town government, the municipal police station, and the 51st Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, indicating a collective effort towards achieving peace in the region.

According to Philippines News Agency, Dr. Osme±a Monta±er, the Deputy Minister of MPOS, praised the cooperation of the warring families, both of which are large clans, for their participation in the settlement program. The agreement was formalized during a meeting at the Malabang municipal hall on December 24. Monta±er emphasized the importance of dialogue, unity, and ethical leadership in resolving conflicts and urged the families to uphold these values.

Monta±er expressed satisfaction with the resolution, noting that the families' decision to end their conflict could foster community development. Malabang Mayor Alinader M. Balindong also acknowledged the crucial role of MPOS in guiding the local mediation team and other stakeholders to resolve family feuds within their community.

As part of the settlement process, the families signed a peace agreement, committing to refrain from further violence against each other. The families also embraced, symbolizing their commitment to peaceful coexistence. This resolution is part of MPOS's broader efforts, through its Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Program, to promote 'rido' settlements across the region and ensure lasting peace and security in the Bangsamoro region.
