Beneco ‘Kapatid’ Team Aids in Restoring Power in Cagayan Valley.

BAGUIO CITY: An 11-man team from the Benguet Electric Cooperative (Beneco) is in Cagayan Valley to help fix backbone electric lines damaged by Typhoon Marce (Yinxing) and help restore power to residential consumers. Laarni Ilagan, Beneco's Corporate Communications media relations officer in-charge, said the team started their 15-day humanitarian work Monday amid rains caused by Typhoon Nika (international name Toraji). According to Philippines News Agency, the team was assigned to the municipality of Ballesteros for their first assignment, identified as one of the hardest-hit towns in Cagayan Valley. The initiative was formed after the National Electrification Administration reactivated 'Task Force Kapatid' (sibling) to assist in restoring power in the franchise area of the Cagayan Electric Cooperative II (Cagelco II), with support from Isabela Electric Cooperative, Nueva Vizcaya Electric Cooperative, and Quezon Electric Cooperative. Beneco's team leader, Percival Aspilan, mentioned, "We are replacing broke n poles and conducting correction of leaning primary poles of Cagelco II's backbone lines downed by Marce." Despite the ongoing influence of Typhoon Nika, Ilagan emphasized that sending the team to Cagayan would not deplete their resources, stating, "Task Force Kapatid is our way of helping our Filipino brothers return to their normal lives."
