Benguet: Governor Melchor Diclas on Saturday praised President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for spearheading events that unite government offices, agencies, and workers to deliver services directly to the people. 'When the President calls, everybody participates. When the President speaks, everyone listens. Officials respond whenever the President convenes and that is the kind of setup we see in the government,' Diclas said in Filipino during the "Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat para sa Lahat" event at Benguet State University gymnasium here.
According to Philippines News Agency, the event offered multiple services, including payouts for displaced workers by the Department of Labor and Employment; distribution of training allowances and toolkits to 400 scholars through the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority; and job matching through a job fair where four applicants were hired on the spot. Other participating agencies included the Department of Agriculture, which sold 1,500 packs of rice containing 10 kilos each for PHP20/kilo and assisted 44 farmers' groups and cooperatives; the Professional Regulation Commission, which opened exam application and license renewal services; the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, which facilitated member registration; the Philippine Statistics Authority, which assisted in national ID and birth registrations; and the Department of Health, which provided medical checkups.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources also distributed pine, bamboo, and coffee seedlings, and handed out 34 land patents to secure tenure for local government units and public schools. Jonathan Ligligen of the Presidential Management Staff-Cordillera said at least 1,500 residents benefited from the services. Agriculture Undersecretary Alvin John Balagbag said the caravans are part of efforts to make government services more accessible, particularly to communities outside Metro Manila. The Handog ng Pangulo caravans were simultaneously conducted nationwide.
