Tuba: The Philippine Statistics Authority-Cordillera Administrative Region (PSA-CAR) announced Wednesday that the municipality of Tuba, Benguet has started verifying the identities of its residents through the National ID Authentication System (NIDAS), speeding up the delivery of health and social welfare services.
According to Philippines News Agency, PSA-CAR Director Villafe Alibuyog stated that the initiative is aimed at digitizing records and transactions, which will ensure better security and faster retrieval of essential documents. The initiative also aims to enhance resilience during disasters.
With the integration of NIDAS, beneficiaries can be reliably identified, ensuring that government assistance reaches the rightful recipients. The Tuba Municipal Management System (TMMS) is also being merged with NIDAS to unify various services in the locality.
Alibuyog emphasized that the National ID is more than just a card. It acts as a key that grants access to essential services and opportunities, enhancing financial inclusion and strengthening government aid distribution. Even without the physical card, a resident's identity can still be verified through the system, enabling access to banking and digital services even in remote areas.
She added that Tuba's move exemplifies how national programs and local leadership can collaborate to advance digital governance and efficient public service delivery.
