Legazpi City: More than 300 officers and their dependents from the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) benefited from free medical, dental, and social services provided by the Philippine National Police Officer Ladies Club Foundation Inc. (PNP-OLC), Bicol Chapter, during the Lab and Blessings (LAB) Virus event on Wednesday. In her speech at the ceremony, Teresa Bausa, president of the PNP OLC Foundation Inc. PRO5 Chapter, emphasized the organization's mission as a noble cause of service, concern, and hope, assuring PNP personnel that they are not alone.
According to Philippines News Agency, the services offered during the event included a wide range of medical and social support such as free circumcision, breast examinations, dental consultations, medical check-ups with basic laboratory services, eye examinations with free reading glasses, and more. Beneficiaries also received psychological support, stress and anger management sessions, and nutritional counseling.
Teresa Bausa highlighted the importance of the initiative, stating that it offers not only medical assistance but also solidarity and comfort to the police community. She reassured beneficiaries that they are valued and that the event serves as a testament to the support and care available to them.
One of the beneficiaries, Pat Merlyn Arcega, expressed gratitude for the financial assistance she received, which will aid in her medical treatment for gastroparesis. Arcega shared her relief over the support that will help ease her financial burdens associated with regular medical check-ups and a special diet.
In addition to medical services, participants received essential items such as groceries, a sack of rice, and toiletries. Police Executive M/Sgt. Clarita Luis also expressed her appreciation for the initiative, acknowledging the significant impact it has on PNP personnel dealing with health challenges.
Rose Vicky Dizon, adviser of the PNP OLC Foundation Inc. PRO5 Chapter, described the LAB Virus event as a manifestation of the organization's core mission, emphasizing the unity and shared purpose within the PNP family. She reiterated the commitment to community and service, as demonstrated by the event's comprehensive support for officers and their families.
