Manila: The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is on track to generate more than PHP3 million from the sale of a luxury vehicle, assorted commodities, and household items. In a recent statement, the BOC announced that it anticipates a total revenue of PHP3,642,101 from bidders' offers during a negotiated sale conducted on July 1.
According to Philippines News Agency, the standout transaction in the sale was Fast Car Traders Corp.'s PHP2,760,000 offer for a 2023 Maserati Grecale Hybrid, marking the largest single deal of the event. Additional offers from Fast Car Traders Corp. and Bengel Consumer Goods Trading included bids for various idle assets, such as a 40-foot container of assorted household items (PHP280,000), a 20-foot container of wooden furniture (PHP62,000), a 40-foot container of assorted commodities and household items (PHP53,000), a solar panel set (PHP37,100), and coffee machines, water softeners, and other loose items (PHP450,001).
The BOC noted that all accepted offers await final approval from the Department of Finance. Proceeds from the sale will be remitted in line with applicable laws, rules, and regulations to support government programs and public service delivery.
BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno has encouraged potential participants to join future monthly Negotiated Sale activities. The public is advised to visit customs.gov.ph for updates and announcements on upcoming events.
These sales are part of the BOC's ongoing efforts to efficiently dispose of idle assets, optimize government resources, and generate additional revenue for the national government. In related news, Nepomuceno highlighted the BOC's significant improvement in public perception, noting that the agency is no longer listed among the most-complained agencies by the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA). Nepomuceno acknowledged that while challenges remain, the BOC is committed to addressing and resolving issues raised by the public.
