Manila: The Bureau of Customs (BOC) will conduct another public auction for six luxury vehicles on May 7. In a social media post Saturday, the BOC-Port of Manila said the public auction through sealed bidding will be held at 10 a.m. at the conference room of its Prefab Building in Port Area. The vehicles up for auction are Lexus ES (2019); Jeep Wrangler (2021); BMW X6 (2023); Mercedes-Benz S680 Maybach (2023); Bentley Continental (2022); and Rolls-Royce Cullinan (2021). A public viewing for interested bidders is scheduled May 4 and 5 at the BOC-Manila grounds.
According to Philippines News Agency, the BOC previously declared a failed negotiated sale of 21 vehicles last week, including four luxury vehicles seized from contractor couple Pacifico and Sarah Discaya. Two interested bidders were disqualified due to technicalities. During the last public auction on April 28, only the Rolls-Royce Phantom 2023 was sold for PHP25.5 million out of 12 luxury vehicles offered. The vehicles are linked to illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators, and the BOC is looking to earn PHP69.8 million based on floor prices. Another negotiated sale for all the vehicles may be held next month.
