BPO Giant Concentrix Expands Bacolod Presence with New AIU Site

Bacolod: Concentrix, the largest information technology-business process outsourcing (IT-BPO) employer in the Philippines, has invested nearly PHP1.02 billion to establish its second site in this highly urbanized city, named Bacolod AIU. The expansion by this global services and technology leader is regarded as a significant development for Bacolod's BPO sector by the city's Department of Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion (DLEDIP).

According to Philippines News Agency, the head of DLEDIP, Frances Mae Llamas, expressed excitement over this news, especially after the city was described as 'muted' by the commercial real estate services and investment firm, CRBE, in 2023. The new Concentrix Bacolod AIU is strategically located near the existing Concentrix Bacolod SanParq site in Barangay Mandalagan. It occupies four floors covering 8,246.40 square meters within the AIU Centre and will accommodate around 1,800 employees, referred to as 'game-changers.' Additionally, it offers shared areas for more than 1,300 additional team members from the older site.

Llamas also mentioned prospective collaboration with Concentrix for training near hires. Amit Jagga, executive vice president and chief business officer of Concentrix Philippines, stated that Bacolod AIU is not merely a new building but also a means of enabling Bacolod talent and affirming the company's long-term commitment to the regional footprint and local communities. He emphasized that the new site provides a larger space and excellent amenities that reflect the workplace of the future and hold potential for further growth.

The launch activities for the new site were led by Concentrix site director John Robert Planta, a Bacolod native with 18 years of industry experience. Planta noted the pride in the 'Sweet Byte' launch event, which combined the company's passion for innovation with Bacolod's local flair.

Concentrix Philippines currently employs over 100,000 individuals across more than 50 sites in 20 cities nationwide. Llamas noted an increase in full-time employees in Bacolod's IT-BPO sector this year, now estimated at 40,000, with a total of 17 companies operating in the city. She also mentioned that two of these are new players, and at least three existing companies have indicated plans for further expansion.
