Manila: The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has projected that headline inflation will settle within the 6 to 7 percent range for June. This projection comes amidst decreasing domestic oil prices and lower prices of key food items, such as rice and meat, which may help temper inflationary pressures for the month.
According to Philippines News Agency, the BSP indicated that despite these positive developments, higher electricity rates and increased vegetable prices could partly counteract the downward pressure on inflation. The central bank has reassured the public of its commitment to vigilance, emphasizing that it will continue to rely on incoming data to guide its actions, particularly concerning inflation and growth outlooks.
Furthermore, the BSP stated its intention to monitor recent developments in the Middle East closely, assessing their potential impact on inflation and economic activity. In May, headline inflation was recorded at 6.8 percent. The Philippine Statistics Authority is scheduled to release the inflation data for June 2026 on July 7.
