Muntinlupa: The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has promoted 199 of its personnel and appointed 249 new ones as it endeavors to boost its efforts at reform and modernization.
According to Philippines News Agency, BuCor announced that out of the 199 promoted personnel, 188 were uniformed personnel and 11 were civilian. Additionally, of the 249 newly appointed personnel, 134 were corrections officers, 95 were corrections technical officers, and 20 were civilian personnel.
The promoted and appointed personnel took their oath of office during a simultaneous oath-taking ceremony at the BuCor Administration Building in Muntinlupa City on Thursday. BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr., who presided over the ceremony, highlighted the significance of this event as a milestone for both the individuals involved and the agency's mission to enhance its workforce in the pursuit of justice and rehabilitation.
He emphasized that by investing in personnel through promotions and new appointments, BuCor is enhancing its operational capacity and ensuring that the team is well-equipped to handle the complexities of corrections work. Catapang addressed the newly promoted and appointed personnel, urging them to uphold the standards of BuCor, perform their duties diligently, and assured them of support for their well-being and that of their families.
Catapang also cautioned them against corruption, emphasizing that it would lead to their downfall. BuCor's ongoing promotion and hiring of new personnel are in line with reforms aimed at modernizing the agency and improving the overall conditions for both staff and inmates.
