Bulacan Driver Suspended for Counterflow Driving

Malolos: The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has suspended the license of a driver of a pick-up truck in a viral video caught doing a counterflow in Malolos, Bulacan. The driver's license has been suspended for 90 days, and he has been summoned for further investigation through a show cause order (SCO).

According to Philippines News Agency, the SCO asked the driver to explain the incident and warned that he might face charges of Driving Against Traffic, Obstruction of Traffic, and being an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle. The suspension and investigation align with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to ensure road safety across the country.

The statement emphasized President Marcos's reminder for motorists to be responsible and patient on the roads for the safety of all road users. In a video that went viral on social media, a dark grey Nissan pickup was seen blocking the opposite lane during heavy traffic. A police officer was later seen in the video assisting the driver in returning to the proper lane.
