Cebu City: The Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 in Central Visayas is working closely with the city government to ensure the security of the Sinulog Grand Parade scheduled for Sunday. Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, who took over as the regional police director on Tuesday, emphasized the ongoing preparations for the Fiesta Se±or, which is anticipated to attract thousands of devotees to the Basilica Minore del Santo Ni±o de Cebu for religious services and the Cebu City Sports Center for the Sinulog celebrations.
According to Philippines News Agency, Maranan highlighted the importance of collaboration between the police, government agencies, and local communities to guarantee public safety and deter criminal activities during the event. He also shared his strategy to enhance police visibility and reduce response times, aiming to uphold a disciplined and modernized police force.
"Our goal remains clear: a modernized, disciplined, and respected police force. We will enhance police response time and implement effective measures against drugs, crime, and private armed groups to ensure a safe and secure Region 7," Maranan stated.
In parallel, the Philippine Coast Guard-Central Visayas (PCG-7) announced that over 305 vessels have signed up for the Fluvial Procession of the Santo Ni±o, set to take place on Saturday. The procession will feature a variety of watercraft, including motorbancas, fishing boats, cargo vessels, tugboats, yachts, and speedboats, navigating through the Mactan Channel.
