C5 Road Rehabilitation Project Set to Begin in Late November

Pasig City:The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is preparing to commence the rehabilitation of C5 later this month, as announced by DPWH Secretary Giovanni Lopez. The project is expected to start in the last week of November, following the approach used in the EDSA rehabilitation.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DPWH is currently in the post-qualification phase of the bidding process for the C5 rehabilitation. The Notice of Award is anticipated to be issued by November 16, with the Notice to Proceed expected a week later, provided the procurement process faces no issues.

The rehabilitation will involve expanding sidewalks to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists, similar to the EDSA project. The project will cover approximately 23 kilometers from the Kalayaan Interchange to Commonwealth Avenue at Capitol Hills Drive, funded by savings from the EDSA rehabilitation.

The DPWH is collaborating with the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and local government units to manage traffic during the construction, which will be executed in phases. The project is scheduled to last 420 calendar days and aims for minimal public disruption by working from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., with completion expected by the last week of January 2028.

In addition, the smooth traffic flow on the Pasig Blvd-C5 Flyover has been restored after the early reopening of the northbound and southbound lanes, as directed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to facilitate the travel of motorists and commuters.
