CAAP Urges Responsible Drone Use Amid New Regulations

Manila: The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has issued a reminder to the public to adhere to existing drone regulations. This announcement aligns with the Bagong Pilipinas initiative under the Marcos administration, emphasizing the safe and responsible use of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA), commonly referred to as drones, to prevent potential threats to life and airspace security.

According to Philippines News Agency, commercial drone operators are required to obtain an authorization certificate from CAAP. Additionally, operators must coordinate with local government units to ensure compliance with municipal drone ordinances. Drones are permitted to fly in areas beyond the 10-kilometer no-fly zones established around airports.

The CAAP advises drone users to maintain a visual line of sight at all times and to refrain from flying drones during adverse weather conditions or when visibility is poor. Furthermore, any incidents involving injury or property damage resulting from drone use should be reported within 48 hours.

The advisory also cautions against flying drones over large gatherings, active emergency situations, and sensitive installations. It further warns against operating drones at night or from moving vehicles.
