Candidates Who Will Not Pay Campaigners Can Be Charged: NLRC

Baguio City: Campaign personnel of politicians who will not receive proper compensation can file complaints before the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC), an official said Tuesday. 'They can be considered as term employees or service employees whose complaint are actionable by the NLRC,' lawyer Raymund Celino, Executive Labor Arbiter of the NLRC-Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) said in a press conference here. 'They can file a complaint in our office,' he added.

According to Philippines News Agency, Imelda Romanillos, Department of Labor and Employment-CAR director, mentioned in the same press conference, 'we can invite the parties, the politician for a conference.' The Commission on Elections requires all candidates to submit a Statement of Contribution and Expenditures (SOCE), which must include the wages of the campaigners tapped during the campaign period. The last day of filing of SOCE is on June 11, 2025.
