Caole Secures National Children’s Chess Girls’ U10 Title

Alicia: Empress Anika Caole ruled the girls' U10 standard division in the Philippine National Children's Chess Championships at the Alicia Community Center in Isabela Thursday. The nine-year-old talent from Luna, Apayao won five matches to secure a berth in the Eastern Asia Youth Championships next year.

According to Philippines News Agency, Caole, who is trained by International Master Joel Banawa, swept the standard, rapid, and blitz gold medals in the National Age Group Championships in Olongapo City last June. Meanwhile, Frexine Maria Lim of Labo, Camarines Norte dominated the girls' U8 division.

Other winners were Zamboanga City's Khana Kathrine Ventolero in the girls' U12, Pasig's Gael Adam Navarro in the boys' U8, Makati's Marco Piolo Sanido in the boys' U10, and Antipolo's John Randall Peralta in the boys' U12. Aside from the National Children's Chess event, Alicia City also hosted the Women's Invitational, the National Juniors, the Youth Selection, and the FIDE Classification tournaments.
