Butuan city: The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD-13) in the Caraga Region has praised local government units (LGUs) for successfully updating their Comprehensive Land Use Plans (CLUPs). This initiative aims to align regional development with national objectives.

According to Philippines News Agency, 34 LGUs across the five provinces in the Caraga Region have completed updates to their CLUPs as of October 31. The breakdown of updated CLUPs includes nine in Agusan del Sur, four in Agusan del Norte, eight in Surigao del Norte, 10 in Surigao del Sur, and three in Dinagat Islands.

The DHSUD-13 also highlighted that seven LGUs have CLUPs expiring this year, with 39 others due for updates. Four of the expiring plans are located in Surigao del Norte, while the remaining three are distributed across Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, and Surigao del Sur.

The CLUP serves as a long-term strategic document guiding land allocation, management, and development policies. It aims to balance economic, social, and environmental objectives while anticipating future needs.

DHSUD-13 continues to support LGUs in the formulation, updating, and enhancement of their CLUPs. This support includes technical assistance, policy guidance, and comprehensive plan reviews to ensure that the development strategies of each community align with national housing and urban development goals.
