Caraga: The Office of Civil Defense in the Caraga Region (OCD-13) received an additional 540 boxes of food packs from OCD Zamboanga Peninsula on Friday. Military trucks transported the food packs from Pagadian City, arriving at the Caraga Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Operations Center at noon. The delivery is part of ongoing efforts to provide relief to areas affected by recent calamities.
According to Philippines News Agency, the team from the Zamboanga Peninsula is expected to continue to the Dinagat Islands for the distribution of the food packs. The island province, severely impacted by recent typhoons, continues to require substantial relief support.
The OCD-13 acknowledged the contributions of the Pagadian city government and the various Army units from the Zamboanga Peninsula for their roles in ensuring the delivery of the food packs. The Army units involved include the 547th Engineer Battalion, the 54th Engineer Brigade, and the 53rd Infantry Battalion.
In addition to the food packs, OCD-13 distributed 3,000 hygiene kits to the Dinagat Islands, targeting areas recently affected by Typhoon Tino.
Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Caraga Region reported the distribution of 62,911 family food packs (FFPs) across the region. This includes 18,943 FFPs in Dinagat Islands, 33,919 in Surigao del Norte, 4,325 in Agusan del Norte, 4,159 in Surigao del Sur, 1,561 in Butuan City, and four in Agusan del Sur.
