Pasay city: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. paid tribute to the six members of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash on November 4 in Agusan del Sur. The President highlighted their gallantry and selflessness, acknowledging their ultimate sacrifice in serving the Filipino people.

According to Philippines News Agency, President Marcos expressed his condolences through an Instagram post, where he commemorated the valor and dedication of the PAF personnel. He emphasized their unwavering commitment to duty and their final act of service, which will be remembered by the nation. "We mourn the loss of our brave men of the Philippine Air Force who gave their lives in the line of duty, serving our people and our nation until their final moments. Their courage and selfless service in bringing aid to those in need will never be forgotten," Marcos stated. He further conveyed his wishes for solace to the families and loved ones of the deceased.

The President personally visited the PAF Mortuary at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City to offer his sympathies to the families of the crew members of the Super Huey helicopter. The helicopter was on a humanitarian and disaster response mission following Typhoon Tino when it crashed.

The remains of Capt. Paulie Dumagan and 2nd Lt. Royce Louis Camigla are currently at the PAF Mortuary, while those of Sgt. John Christopher Golfo and Airman 1st Class Ericson Merico have been transported to their hometowns. Sgt. Yves Sijub's remains were flown to Rajah Buayan Air Station in General Santos City, and Airman Ameer Khaidar Apion's remains were taken to Edwin Andrews Air Base in Zamboanga City.

In recognition of their heroic actions, the PAF posthumously awarded the Distinguished Aviation Cross to the six fallen personnel. This military decoration honors their bravery and selfless service during aerial operations.
