Manila: Palace Press Officer and Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro visited the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Tuesday to report a Facebook page for allegedly posting content that she perceived as a death threat against her.

According to Philippines News Agency, Castro highlighted a post from a Facebook page named 'Luminous by Trixie Cruz-Angeles and Ahmed Paglinawan.' The post suggested that only Castro's 'appendix and coccyx' would remain unharmed if she were abandoned by her 'humans.' It also criticized her for supposedly serving the interests of the Marcos administration.

Castro stated that her current action is limited to formally documenting the incident. She has not yet decided whether to pursue legal action. She expressed the necessity of reporting the threat, saying, 'I just need to report this so that, at the very least, if something happens to me, there are people who can be investigated.'

Castro mentioned that she personally knows Cruz-Angeles, but not Paglinawan, whose names were associated with the page. The post addressed Castro directly, suggesting that her physical safety would be jeopardized should she lose the support of her 'humans.'

Castro also emphasized that while freedom of expression is a protected right, it should not serve as an excuse for threatening an individual's life. She remarked, 'If they say they have freedom of expression, all of us should be able to exercise that right, but there is no need to resort to threatening someone's life just because you oppose what a person is saying.'
