Catarman: The new Cebu-Catarman route launched by Philippine Airlines (PAL) is anticipated to usher in economic growth for Northern Samar, local officials announced. The route, which began operations on March 4, offers flights every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, departing Mactan International Airport at 9:50 a.m. and arriving in Catarman at 10:55 a.m. The return flight leaves Northern Samar at 11:25 a.m., reaching Cebu an hour later.

According to Philippines News Agency, Catarman town Mayor Francisco Aurelio Rosales III highlighted the economic benefits of enhanced accessibility, expressing optimism about attracting more tourists, creating jobs, and stimulating development. In a conversation with the Department of Tourism (DOT) assistant regional director Boris Pascubillo, the official noted that the new connectivity would boost tourism arrivals and enhance the region's profile as a desirable destination for travelers.

Vice-Governor Clarence Dato conveyed his appreciation to PAL and its partners for facilitating easier access to Northern Samar, emphasizing the province's commitment to bolstering its economic and tourism infrastructure. PAL's regional head of sales, Leonard Bryan Sansolis, elaborated on the broader connectivity benefits, noting that the new route not only links Catarman to Cebu but also facilitates access to other major domestic and international destinations, enhancing travel options for Northern Samar residents.

In addition to the Cebu-Catarman service, PAL also operates flights from Manila to Catarman on multiple days of the week, further strengthening Northern Samar's connectivity.
