Manila: Gokongwei-led airline Cebu Pacific (CEB) and simulation technology firm CAE have announced the expansion of their joint venture CAE Philippines to boost the pilot training center's ability. The expansion announcement, made during the Paris Air Show on June 18, includes the deployment of an Airbus A330neo full-flight simulator (FFS), supported by a long-term training services agreement, at the CAE Philippines in Clark.
According to Philippines News Agency, the expansion is aimed at meeting the growing demand for pilot training as Cebu Pacific continues to grow its network and widebody fleet. CEB chief operations officer Javier Massot emphasized that being the largest operator of the A330neo in Asia, the new simulator would provide additional training capacity and enhance the safe operation of the aircraft. Cebu Pacific currently operates the largest A330neo fleet in Asia, with 11 aircraft in service and more expected in the near future.
Michel Azar-Hmouda, Commercial Aviation Division president, stated that the deployment of the new A330neo simulator strengthens the shared commitment to delivering pilot training. The expansion is seen as a significant step in enhancing the center's position as a key aviation training hub in the region.
Meanwhile, CEB mentioned that the A330neo FFS would be ready by December 2026, adding to the existing A320 and ATR 72-600 simulators in the training center. Established in 2011, CAE Philippines aims to provide pilot training solutions using advanced technology, support fleet growth, and contribute to the development of aviation professionals in the Philippines and across the Asia-Pacific region.
