Manila: Gokongwei-led airline Cebu Pacific (CEB) continues to record growth, flying 13.9 million passengers for the first half of 2025, up 20.8 percent from the 11.5 million tally in the first half of 2024.
According to Philippines News Agency, CEB's president Xander Lao stated that their load factors have increased in the first half of 2025 despite a seat growth of more than 20 percent. Lao highlighted the persistent demand for air travel within their network. However, he also mentioned that the airline's capacity for the second half of June was reduced due to the onset of the leaner season.
Lao further explained that the adjustments align with ongoing proactive management of engine and supply chain issues. He expressed expectations that capacity growth levels would remain similar throughout the third quarter before rising again in the fourth quarter. The seat load factor for CEB averaged 85.4 percent for the first half of the year.
In June alone, CEB flew 2.2 million passengers, marking a 7.9 percent increase compared to June 2024. Despite the growth in passengers, the seat load factor for the month slightly decreased to 87.5 percent from the previous year's 88.3 percent.
Domestic passenger traffic in June saw a 7.3 percent increase, while international passenger traffic grew by 9.7 percent year-over-year. CEB operates flights to 37 domestic and 26 international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
