Cebu Pacific Partners with De La Salle University to Train Future Aviation Engineers

Manila: Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific (CEB) and De La Salle University (DLSU) - Manila have recently announced a five-year collaboration to train future aviation engineers. Twenty-five DLSU engineering students have been selected for the pilot run of the Design Engineering Program.

According to Philippines News Agency, the partnership aims to guide young engineers in innovating with purpose, thereby contributing to the future of Philippine aviation. Shevantha Weerasekera, CEB's Vice President for Engineering and Fleet Management, emphasized the investment in people as a key aspect of this collaboration.

DLSU will collaborate with CEB's technical experts to design and develop projects that apply to real airline operations. The focus will be on creating smart systems for aircraft maintenance and developing sustainable mobility solutions for the carrier's facilities.

The airline informed the Philippine News Agency that participation in the program does not obligate the selected students to work for CEB after graduation, nor does it guarantee employment. The projects developed during the program will serve as thesis or capstone requirements for the students.

CEB also plans to expand the program to include more schools in the future as part of its long-term commitment to investing in the Philippine aviation sector.
