Manila: Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific (CEB) announced its partnership with Lufthansa Systems and Pratt and Whitney to boost the airline's operational efficiency. Both partnerships were signed at the Paris Air Show.
According to Philippines News Agency, Lufthansa Systems' NetLine suite was selected for its advanced capabilities in flight operations, crew planning, rostering, and real-time disruption management. CEB's chief executive officer Mike Szucs stated that the partnership is crucial for scaling operations by investing in internal infrastructure with world-class systems to enhance safety, operational resilience, and crew wellbeing as the airline grows its fleet and expands its network.
The operations control system evaluates data such as weather conditions, airspace constraints, and aircraft performance. This system enables the operations control team to proactively manage disruptions. The crew management solution, supported by ROIS/Pi, uses machine learning and high-speed optimization for efficient rostering and resource planning, aiming to offer a balanced and predictable crew experience. These improvements are expected to reduce operational costs and enhance customer satisfaction through faster, data-driven decision-making.
CEB also signed a long-term maintenance services agreement with Pratt and Whitney. This 12-year agreement provides comprehensive support for the GTF engines ordered in 2024. Rick Deurloo, president of Commercial Engines at Pratt and Whitney, emphasized the ongoing collaboration with Cebu Pacific to optimize fleet reliability and efficiency.
Szucs highlighted the importance of maintaining CEB's fleet performance and efficiency. Through Pratt and Whitney's fleet management programs, CEB gains access to technical expertise, fleet data, and business intelligence. The GTF engine has enabled up to 20 percent reduction in fuel burn compared to previous generation engines, offering significant savings in fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and reduced operating costs.
