CIDG Apprehends 995 Suspects and Confiscates PHP123.5 Million in May Operations

Manila: The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested 995 suspects, including most wanted persons and fugitives, and seized PHP123.5 million worth of evidence during operations conducted in May.

According to Philippines News Agency, CIDG chief Maj. Gen. Robert Morico II stated that under Oplan OLEA (Other Law Enforcement Activities), the agency confiscated evidence valued at PHP123.5 million. The operations targeted illicit activities involving counterfeit, trademark-infringing, and substandard products, as well as petroleum product pilferage, illegal logging, illegal gambling, and illegal mining, among other offenses.

Morico reported that 605 of those arrested were wanted persons, including one National Most Wanted Person, 113 Regional Most Wanted Persons, 118 Provincial Most Wanted Persons, and 86 City/Municipal Most Wanted Persons. Authorities also apprehended one leader and nine members of a "communist terrorist group (CTG)," in addition to other suspects.

The operations resulted in the confiscation of 134 firearms, which included 11 light weapons and 123 small arms, as well as 35 explosives. Additionally, the CIDG filed 112 criminal complaints before the National Prosecution Service.

The CIDG emphasized that these accomplishments highlight their ongoing campaign against various forms of criminality and law violations, alongside sustained manhunt operations nationwide. Maj. Gen. Morico noted that the CIDG's focus extends beyond arrests and confiscations, as the unit is committed to meticulous detection, investigation, and case buildup to ensure the filing of robust complaints in court.
