Manila: The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested 1,124 suspects, including most-wanted persons and fugitives, and seized PHP505.9 million in evidence during operations conducted in July.
According to Philippines News Agency, CIDG chief Maj. Gen. Robert Morico II announced on Tuesday that the 928 intensified law enforcement operations throughout July also led to the recovery of 132 loose firearms and 24 explosives. These efforts effectively prevented potential violent offenses and crimes by removing lethal weapons and instruments of killing from the streets.
Morico reported that 638 of those arrested were wanted persons, which included one national most wanted person, 87 regional most wanted persons, 124 provincial most wanted persons, and 89 city/municipal most wanted persons. Authorities also detained nine members of a "communist terrorist group (CTG)", among other individuals.
The CIDG implemented 41 search warrants and conducted 43 buy-bust operations during the month. Meanwhile, the confiscated evidence under Oplan OLEA (Other Law Enforcement Activities) resulted from operations targeting illicit, counterfeit, trademark-infringing, and substandard products, as well as petroleum product pilferage, illegal logging, illegal gambling, and illegal mining, among other offenses.
Morico praised the unwavering dedication and commitment of all CIDG personnel in enforcing the law across the country. He underscored that the Group's operational focus extends far beyond initial apprehensions until conviction.
The CIDG emphasized that the month-long accomplishments highlight the unit's steadfast campaign against all forms of criminality and law violations, as well as its sustained manhunt operations nationwide. "The CIDG's focus goes beyond making arrests, accounting unlicensed firearms, and confiscating illicit items," Morico said. "The Unit is dedicated to conducting circumspect detection, circumspect investigation, and case buildup to ensure the filing of airtight complaints that can stand a leg in court."
