CIDG Nabs 1,159 Suspects in November Anti-Crime Ops.

Manila: The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has arrested 1,159 suspects in anti-crime operations from Nov. 1 to 30 this year. CIDG chief Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, in a statement Tuesday, said these suspects were arrested in 1,073 operations. According to Philippines News Agency, under its Oplan Pagtugis, the CIDG conducted 890 operations, apprehending 881 most wanted persons (MWPs) and 564 other wanted persons. Of those arrested, 159 were listed at the regional level, 105 at the provincial level, and 53 at the municipal level. Through 83 operations under Oplan Paglalansag Omega or the crackdown on illegal firearms, Torre stated that 103 individuals were arrested while 12 light weapons, 92 small arms, nine explosives, and 1,232 rounds of ammunition were confiscated. The CIDG's campaign against illegal gambling (Oplan Bolilyo) led to 52 operations, 78 arrests, and the confiscation of PHP186,860 in bet money. Oplan Ligas, targeting illegal liquefied petrole um gas (LPG) refilling and manufacturing, resulted in nine operations, 18 arrests, and the seizure of pieces of evidence worth PHP19.49 million. The campaign against smuggling and counterfeit products (Oplan Megashopper) led to 14 operations, 32 arrests, and the recovery of evidence valued at PHP1.73 billion. Additionally, the CIDG dismantled a large-scale illegal manufacturing and distribution network, seizing over PHP2.4 billion worth of counterfeit cigarettes and smuggling equipment in Bulacan and Valenzuela. Investigations revealed that an illegal factory in Bulacan served as the primary hub for the production of counterfeit cigarettes, which were then distributed to Valenzuela and other areas. Furthermore, six individuals were arrested in the campaign against terrorism. Brig. Gen. Torre commended the operatives of the CIDG and other law enforcement agencies for their successful operations and continuous collaborative efforts, emphasizing a commitment to persist until every criminal is apprehended and h eld accountable for their actions.
