Manila: The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) announced that PHP1.372 billion worth of coins have been deposited through its coin deposit machines (CoDM) as of March 17.
According to Philippines News Agency, the BSP revealed in a social media post on Monday that the deposited amount corresponds to 339.84 million pieces of coins resulting from 311,858 transactions. The CoDM initiative, introduced in June 2023, enables customers to deposit their legal tender coins conveniently. These deposits can be credited to their GCash or Maya electronic wallet accounts or converted into shopping vouchers.
The coin deposit machines are a part of BSP's Coin Recirculation Program aimed at reintroducing idle coins into circulation to meet the country's currency demands. Currently, the BSP has installed CoDMs in partner retail locations across the Greater Manila Area.
The locations hosting the CoDMs include Robinsons Place Metro East in Pasig City, Robinsons Place Novaliches in Quezon City, Robinsons Place Antipolo in Rizal, Robinsons Place Magnolia in Quezon City, Robinsons Place Ermita in Manila, Robinsons Place Galleria in Ortigas, Festival Mall in Muntinlupa City, SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City, SM City Grand Central in Caloocan, SM City Marilao in Bulacan, SM City Taytay in Rizal, SM Hypermarket FTI in Taguig City, SM Southmall in Las Pi±as City, SM City Sucat in Para±aque, SM City Calamba, SM City Marikina, SM City San Mateo in Rizal, SM City Valenzuela, SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, SM City North EDSA in Quezon City, SM City Fairview in Quezon City, SM City San Lazaro in Manila, SM City Bicutan in Para±aque, and SM City Bacoor in Cavite.
