Cold Storage and Reefer Van Projects Receive PHP14 Million Boost in Agusan del Norte and Surigao del Sur

Sarangani: The Department of Agriculture in Caraga Region (DA-13) facilitated the release of KADIWA Financial Grants totaling PHP14 million to two local government units in Agusan del Norte and a cooperative in Surigao del Sur on Wednesday. DA-13 Regional Executive Director Ricardo O±ate Jr. led the distribution of funds to Las Nieves and Magallanes LGUs, each receiving PHP5 million, and the San Nicolas Development Cooperative (SANIDECO), which was granted PHP4 million.

According to Philippines News Agency, Magallanes LGU will utilize its grant to procure a refrigerated van aimed at aiding farmers in transporting their products to market centers. Municipal Agriculturist Roselyn Reas Morrondoz expressed gratitude for the government's support, highlighting that the refrigerated van will help ensure that products remain fresh upon reaching consumers.

Las Nieves LGU plans to use their allotment to establish a Kadiwa Center where fresh farm products will be displayed. Meanwhile, SANIDECO intends to invest its funding in a cold storage facility to assist farmers in preserving their produce.

O±ate emphasized that the agency remains committed to supporting farmers through the KADIWA Financial Grants. He noted that DA-13 will collaborate with local government units, farmers' associations, and cooperatives to implement programs benefiting farmers and fisherfolk.
