Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has officially accredited the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) as a regional parliamentary political party eligible to participate in the upcoming 2026 Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections. In a resolution issued Wednesday by the poll body, the Verified Manifestation of Intent submitted by UBJP was approved, serving as a substitute for a formal petition for registration and accreditation.
According to Philippines News Agency, BARMM Member of Parliament Lanang Ali Jr. stated that the Comelec recognized the party's compliance with the necessary documents and qualifications to participate in the regional elections. This accreditation allows UBJP to field candidates for district representatives in the September 14 BARMM parliamentary elections, marking an important step toward increased participation in Bangsamoro politics.
On Wednesday morning, UBJP district representative candidates filed their certificates of candidacy at the Comelec regional office in Cotabato City. Earlier, the Comelec dismissed the objections to UBJP's accreditation filed by Sahabudin Panambulun Usop and Gasanara Dibaraten due to a lack of sufficient basis, leading to the final approval of UBJP's accreditation.
