Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc has terminated the investigation against Senator Rodante Marcoleta concerning the reported inconsistencies in his Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) during the May 2025 polls. This decision was reached due to a lack of evidence.

According to Philippines News Agency, the en banc issued a seven-page resolution, with a vote of 6-0-1, stating that there was no evidence indicating Senator Marcoleta committed an election offense. The investigation initially focused on his alleged non-disclosure of election donors in his SOCE.

The Comelec instructed its Law Department to look into three contributors to Marcoleta's campaign during the May 2025 midterm polls. These contributors, Michael Tan Defensor, Joseph Varias Espiritu, and Aristotle Baluyut Viray, were under investigation for failing to submit their report of contributions a month after the national polls.

Senator Marcoleta had previously acknowledged not revealing the names of some campaign contributors, as they had requested anonymity. Under Section 99 of the Omnibus Election Code, candidates are required to report donations and expenses incurred during their campaign period.
