Comelec Initiates Printing of 200,000 Demo Ballots for Upcoming Bangsamoro Elections

Quezon city: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported Tuesday that they have started the printing of some 200,000 roadshow ballots in connection with the holding of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections (BPE) on Oct. 13.

According to Philippines News Agency, the roadshow ballots will be utilized during the demonstration of automated counting machines (ACMs) scheduled next month. 'Today, we've started printing roadshow ballots. These will be used in the ACM demonstration of all Offices of the Election Officer in BARMM for a one-month roadshow from Sept. 1-30, 2025,' he said in a Viber message.

'After this, we will announce the start of official ballot printing, to be witnessed by citizens' arms, members of the media, and political parties,' the poll body official added. He noted that aside from roadshow ballots, they will also print training ballots for the Election Boards (EBs).

On the other hand, Laudiangco revealed that there are 2.2 million official ballots to be printed for the BPE. 'The roadshow and EB training ballots are approximately 200,000, while the official ballots are approximately 2.2 million, including the final testing and sealing ballots,' he said.

'There is no exact date yet (on the printing of the official ballots), but this month will be the start and end of the printing process. It only takes about one week to print all the ballots,' the Comelec official added. The printing of election materials is being done at the National Printing Office (NPO) in Quezon City.
