Manila: Applications received for voters' registration have breached the 1 million mark, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported Monday. Based on the poll body's latest data, as of Dec. 21, the total number of applications received nationwide is 1,020,694.

According to Philippines News Agency, out of the total applications, 790,028 are applying as voters for the village polls while 235,274 are seeking to become youth voters. The Comelec also received 278,388 applications from new registrants aged 18 years and above.

A total of 294,298 individuals have applied for transfer from other city or municipality, while 63,004 people have applied for transfer within the same city or municipality. Additionally, 41,140 individuals are looking to reactivate their registration.

For the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) voters, aged 15 to 17 years, there have been 230,666 applications for registration. Among SK voters, Comelec also received 963 applications for transfer from other city or municipality, 318 applications for transfer within the same city or municipality, and 3,327 for correction of entries.

The voters' registration period resumed for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on October 20 and will continue until May 18, 2026. The Comelec estimates registering 1.4 million new voters for the elections scheduled on November 2, 2026.
