Para±aque city: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will be holding a plebiscite in five barangays (villages) of Para±aque City next month. In Comelec Resolution No. 11231, the Comelec en banc set the plebiscite for July 25 that will update the city's territorial boundaries, particularly five coastal barangays covering the reclaimed areas in Manila Bay. "There will be a plebiscite in the following barangays in Para±aque City, namely Barangays Baclaran, Tambo, Don Galo, La Huerta, and San Dionisio," it said.

According to Philippines News Agency, based on Para±aque City Ordinance No. 2023-19, the alteration aims to adopt the "Straight Line Policy" to determine its amended territorial boundaries. The plebiscite period has started on June 25 and will run until Aug. 1. During the period, the poll body reminded the public that bearing, carrying, or transporting firearms and other deadly weapons are prohibited.

"It is strictly prohibited to carry guns or other deadly weapons in Barangays Baclaran, Tambo, Don Galo, La Huerta, and San Dionisio without a Certificate of Authority (gun ban exemption)," it said. Checkpoints are established in the five barangays in cooperation with the Philippine National Police.
