Antique: The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Antique has formed community fire auxiliary groups (CFAGs) in each of the 18 municipalities in the province to serve as first responders during fire incidents in barangays (villages) in the first quarter of 2026. BFP Antique Provincial Information Officer, Fire Officer II Eulie May Raymaro, explained that a CFAG comprises the barangay captain, who acts as the chief ground commander, and is supported by the rest of the barangay council members and tanod (watchmen).

According to Philippines News Agency, the CFAG members have been trained in fire suppression, rescue, evacuation, traffic management, communication, and salvaging of belongings at a fire scene. The training also included simulation exercises. The fire officer highlighted that CFAG members are particularly vital in reaching remote areas where BFP personnel might face delays in response.

Raymaro also reported that BFP Antique responded to 102 fire calls, predominantly residential or structural, from January 1 to June 26. She emphasized the importance of fire safety measures, advising the public to use candle holders or cans and to never leave candles unattended, especially during brownouts. Additionally, she cautioned households against overloading electrical appliances and warned against charging cellular phones or power banks while sleeping, as these practices could lead to short circuits.
