Comelec Set to Proclaim Bagong Henerasyon as Party-List Winner Next Week

Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is preparing to proclaim Bagong Henerasyon (BH) as one of the party-list winners in the May 12 midterm elections next week. Comelec Chairperson George Garcia announced that the Commission en banc has issued a Certificate of Finality and Entry of Judgment regarding the dismissal of the petition that sought BH's disqualification from the party-list race.

According to Philippines News Agency, the National Board of Canvassers is expected to proclaim the BH party-list soon, potentially as early as next week. The Certificate of Finality issued by Comelec declares that the Resolution of the Commission (En Banc) promulgated on May 30, 2025, is immediately executory under the Comelec Rules of Procedure and Comelec Resolution No. 11046.

The Entry of Judgment further states that the Resolution, being immediately executory, is recorded in the Book of Entries of Judgment in accordance with Comelec Resolution No. 110462 and Comelec Rules of Procedure. This follows a decision by the Comelec First Division to dismiss the petition to disqualify the BH party-list, filed by lawyer Russell Geronimo, who did not meet the mandatory requirements for filing.

Geronimo's motion for reconsideration was subsequently denied by the Comelec en banc. The proclamation of the BH party-list had been suspended last month due to the ongoing disqualification case. In the May 12 elections, BH party-list secured 319,803 votes, earning them one seat in the House of Representatives.
