Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is setting its sights on proclaiming all winners in the Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE) within two days following the September 14 polls. Speaking at the Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum, Comelec Chairperson George Garcia expressed the commission's intention to initially announce the victorious district representatives in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao's (BARMM) 32 parliamentary districts on election night.
According to Philippines News Agency, Garcia stated that they aim to declare the remaining winners in the region by September 16. He emphasized the importance of this timeline, as it would allow the elected representatives to proceed with selecting a chief minister. Besides the 32 district representatives, the elections will also decide 40 party representatives and eight sectoral representatives.
During the forum, Garcia also discussed the preparations for printing the official ballots for the BPE. The process is set to commence in the first week of July at the National Printing Office (NPO), with the ballots measuring 27 inches in length. The printing is expected to conclude by the third week of July, followed by the deployment of ballots in the first week of August.
Garcia further reported that the automated counting machines (ACMs) provided by Miru Systems are currently undergoing testing at the company's facility in Bi±an, Laguna. These machines were previously used during the May 2025 midterm elections. Plans are in place to conduct a mock election and hardware acceptance tests to ensure the equipment's readiness for the upcoming polls.
